DR MONIKA SKUBISZ

BMedSci, MBBS, PhD, FRANZCOG

Dr Monika Skubisz (Scoo-bish) is a clinician-researcher, working as a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer with appointments at the Women's and Children's Hospital, Riverland General Hospital, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and the University of Adelaide. Dr Skubisz provides care for private Obstetric and Gynaecology patients at Ashford Hospital.

Dr Skubisz completed medical school at the University of Melbourne and a PhD (Medicine) at Monash University, where she conducted clinical trials to improve the management of early pregnancy complications including ectopic and molar pregnancies. She has a special interest in nutritional and preventive medicine and is currently involved in clinical trials looking at the ability of omega 3 to prevent preterm birth and whether Australian women are being exposed to excessive folic acid in later pregnancy. She is on the Executive Committee of the Australian Preterm Birth Prevention Alliance, a national body of experts looking to safely reduce the rate of preterm birth in Australia.

Dr Skubisz enjoys looking after women and their families and helping them achieve optimal health in pregnancy and throughout their reproductive stages. Her practice includes:

  • General and high-risk obstetrics

  • Colposcopy

  • General gynaecology

  • Laparoscopic surgery
